Seasonal position from March 1 - October 31

Starting at $9.00 / hour

Guaranteed 16 hours per week, with the possibility of more.

Must be highly flexible, including Sundays from 10 AM to 6 PM and additional busy times determined by weather and park attendance.

Heavener Runestone Park is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Park Attendant for a part-time seasonal role. Flexibility is key—we need someone who can adapt to varying hours and take on a range of tasks to support the park.

This Park Attendant position for Friends of Heavener Runestone serves to support park operations and enhance the visitor experience at Heavener Runestone Park. You will play a crucial role in our nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Heavener Runestone Park. In this position, you will be responsible for the daily operations of our gift shop, providing assistance to visitors, maintaining cleanliness throughout the park and the facilities, oversee facility rentals, overseeing the check-in process, assisting campers with their needs as well as assisting with fundraising and community events. This position requires exceptional customer service skills, ability to collaborate as a team, a passion for history and nature, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Gift Shop:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the gift shop, including inventory management, restocking, and sales transactions.

    • Provide friendly and knowledgeable assistance to visitors, answering questions, and offering guidance on merchandise selection.

    • Maintain a clean and organized gift shop environment.

  • Visitor Information:

    • Welcome and greet visitors, providing them with information about the park, its history, and attractions.

    • Ensure visitors have a positive experience by addressing their inquiries and offering assistance as needed.

  • Bathroom Maintenance:

    • Regularly inspect and clean park restrooms to ensure they are well-maintained and stocked with necessary supplies.

    • Monitor restroom and trash facilities throughout the day, promptly addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.

  • Campground Coordination:

    • Manage the check-in process for campers, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.

    • Assist campers with any inquiries or needs they may have during their stay, including providing information about park rules, amenities, and nearby attractions.

    • Collaborate with the FHR team to ensure campground facilities are well-maintained and clean.

  • Facility Rentals:

    • Coordinate the rental of park buildings for events such as weddings, corporate functions, and community gatherings.

    • Serve as a point of contact for event inquiries, providing information on availability, pricing, and facilities.

    • Facilitate the booking process.

    • Coordinate with event organizers to ensure a smooth setup and breakdown of the event, addressing any specific needs or requirements.

    • Collaborate with the FHR team to ensure all facilities are well-maintained and clean.

  • Other

    • Work in collaboration with our team of FHR board members, full-time park aide and park host to keep the park running smoothly.

    • Provide backup to our Park Aide during peak times or high visitor volume.

    • Assist with Fundraising and Community Relations Events.

    • Handle various additional gift shop and park-related tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Drivers License, Complete Job application.

  • Complete in Person Job Interview

  • Willing to learn Park History including history of the Runestone

  • Possess Phone Etiquette and Sales Abilities

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Physically able to walk/hike up and down stairs or steps

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with visitors of diverse backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.

  • Excellent organizational abilities to manage gift shop inventory, campground check-ins, and cleanliness standards.

  • Ability to collaborate with a team as well as work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated passion for the mission and values of Friends of Heavener Runestone, Inc.

  • Relevant coursework or experience in history, tourism, or customer service is a plus.

  • Minimum age requirement of 16 and must be available for flexible hours during weekdays.
